Getting Lobstery in Miami

Ah the weekend is almost here! The sun is still shinning. Lobsters are all around us. Well sort of. I went to the Keys a couple weeks back on Elk-related business (because gee why else would I go to the Keys living in Paradise) and while my Chonga BFF and I were going there we all saw this Lobster outside a now closed restaurant. Ok now I have made that trip so many times that I have lost count, and this is the first time I noticed this Lobster. Oh yes it has been there the whole time, I would say if it was a dog it would of ate my head but it's a Lobster I am lucky I am still walking. We all were laughing at it as we passed by and on the way back home her witty better half said we have to stop for a picture. So we did!

I am determined this year to take a better look at my surroundings and truly appreciate them more. I complain about the heat and the sun and the heat and the sun and how I long for winter nights where one can actually wear a jacket and bundle up. (Note to readers: IN Miami it happens about 20 days of the whole year) But this is a blessing in many ways because so many other places have it worse. So I thought this was time to look, smile and appreciate. And look what I found when I did it ....a Giant Lobster??? Can you imagine what more I will come up with oh wait prior to the Lobster there were those Coconut heads...How can we forget those!

So I guess the lesson here is to look at your surroundings with new open eyes and just enjoy. I am.

Ok the wish is on!

Ok the wish is on!

Jamie at Starshyne Productions set the question out there.

What do you wish to read?

Eeeeck! Ok I just finished the whole (yes all of them) Twilight series. I am not sure if the last one is considered reading because the last book I actually had it as an audio book. That counts right?

Ok reading...what do I wish to read. I wish to read my thoughts and emotions in a way that will lead me on the right path. I wish to be able to read people a little better. Sometimes I tend to only think that people have no ill intentions and then I am left with hurt feelings when I see Greedy selfish behaviors. But I still believe that for the most part people really are good inside. So I guess I wish to read more of the good in people then bad.

So here's to reading more!

5 Stones!

Oh boy this morning's wishing stones all faced up! Rarely do all come up with messages and this morning is one of those. Ok so the messages are: Create, Strength, Wish, Dream, Magic.

Ok lets mix it up a little:

Dream: Nothing happens unless it is a Dream first.

Create: The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself.

Strength: If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Wish: When you love someone all your saved-up wishes start coming out.

and last but not least...

Magic: The Smurfs are little blue people who live in magic mushrooms. Think about it.

So there you have it soul, your words of wisdom for the day. How will this day turn out?

Magic and Strength

Todays Wishing Stones words of the day are Magic and Strength. Seems appropriate there is Strength in Magic. So what words of wisdom are there about Magic...So many! Lets keep it simple:

Wayne Dyer (American Psychotherapist) said that "If we are to have magical bodies, we must have magical minds."
As for Strength well I suppose Mignon McLaughlin (American Writer) said it well - "Our strength is often composed of the weakness we're damned if we're going to show."

It is going to be a good day today. Once my "paying gig" is over I head to the Elks Lodge to witness and give a small speech to teenagers who have completed a very hard tough love course. These are young boys who are first time juvenile offenders and instead of doing time they are pretty much shown what would happen to them if they continue on that path. The whole program takes about 6 to 9 months and it teaches the boys everything from life coaching skills to a visit to the morgue and prison. I have met so many nice young men from there who have learned that they have the power to change the course of their lives. Some of these young men are now counselors because they got it! So it is always nice to go and support this group. And sitting with a bunch of teenagers always makes me feel so young too!
So stay strong and believe in the Magic.

Well today is Wednesday

Well today is Wednesday and that makes it Wishcasting Wednesday spear headed and created by Jamie at Starshyne Productions. This week's question is

What step do you wish to take?

At first I thoughts ok what steps do I wish to take then I looked at it again and saw Step oh but how can anyone just do one. Like the pringles chips you cannot just one right?
Ok here goes, Mind you some of these I may already be taking those steps but it does not hurt to put them out there continue the journey.
  • A step towards a better understanding of what makes people tick.

  • A step towards not judging people by their label (ex: Rich billionaire = snob, High power CEO= rich snob, you get the picture right no labels just get to know and then decide).

  • A step towards actually writing the Mystery Story aka get it out of my head and on paper.

  • A step towards peace around me.

  • A step towards seeing the good rather then the bad - I do this most time but oh there are those times....
I think this is enough (for the moment), always subject to change.

I did the Wishing Stone throw down this morning and oh boy 4 out of the 5 stones showed messages and those messages were:

Create

Wish (hum and on a Wednesday!)

Dream

Strength

Here are the thoughts on them:

Create : An idea can turn to dust or magic depending on the talent that rubs against it.

Wish: What ardently we wish we soon believe.

Dream: Dreams are the illustrations from the book your soul is writing about you.

Strength: Greatness lies not in the being strong, but in the right use of strength.

Go Create a wish and dream about how strong you are doing it!

Magic

A funny thing happened this morning as I sat at work drinking my coffee and trying to accept that yes it is Tuesday and I must face the day. I have this little box of Wishing Stones. There are 5 stones and each has one word on it. Sometimes in order to just center myself and bring harmony to my day I play a little game I take the stones out and toss them on my desk. I look at the words that come out and try to keep those words in mind. It brings me a smile in the morning and if you know me, for me to smile in the morning is such a big accomplishment so this is a good thing. Today's word was only one. Only one word stood out and the others quietly laid covered what was the word....Glad you asked MAGIC! So today my sayings regarding Magic are:

The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper. An idea can turn to dust or magic depending on the talent that rubs against it.

I think of this and smile. There is magic all around us if we look at it. Look at that plant that you know has been neglected yet refuses to die. Look at the birds flying around and butterflies that make you smile. Get an idea and do not let it go to dust, but instead make magic with it.

Yet it is going to be a good day. Tonight Moose Meeting .... Yeah it will also be good.

Stay Tune..

Monday is here

Welcome to the new week! Here it is Monday already. It seems the weekend which consists of 2 days are the quickest two days on the planet. It was a fun filled weekend though. My Friday night was pretty much "rest" because you will be pretty much on the run all weekend long. So it was just dinner at the Lodge.

Oh Saturday morning started about 7:30 AM with preparing to go to the Florida Keys Elks Lodge ( if you recall that's the Lodge with the coconut heads pictured previously). A nice friend offered to drive me up there since he too had to be there and he knew I had a long drive afterwards. So I said well yeah thank you! The meeting was long and well boring it really was so boring. I really like some of those people (most of them) but gosh it was boring.

I then was dropped off at home and pretty much immediately jumped into my car and off to Tampa Florida! (Pictured above). The trip was long ( 4 1/2 hours) but the girls from the Moose Lodge who had already been there were nice enough to wait till my arrival before beginning the party. The plan was to go to one of the Moose Lodges that was having a party and well party. So I arrive I begged them to give me a few minutes to get to the room wash up, re-do the already gone make up and change clothes. Once that was done off the Moose Lodge to party like a rock star. Or a rock star at a Moose Lodge. Well we did we sure partied.
The next morning was a very nice ceremony in the hotel and once that was done off home. I made pretty good time. I was glad to be home.

Weekend trip

Another week had ended and my whirl wind continues. Tomorrow early morning is a road trip to the Florida Keys (yep again). There is a meeting down there I must attend. Then once that meeting is over and done with I head to Tampa Florida for another meeting! I know I am going from one end of the state to the middle. Tis the story of my weekend life. This is what I get for volunteering and being good at it. hee hee hee.... If it wasn't for the people being so nice and I do truly enjoy helping out people in need one would say I am nuts.

I will be computer free so postings won't happen till Monday at least. Hope the weekend is well for everyone. Have a groovey one.

Wish Casting on Thursday

Another week is flying by like magic and speaking of Magic yesterday was Wishcasting Wednesday sponsored byJamie at Starshyne Productions.

Jaime's challenging question is What do you wish to clear out?

Here is my clear out wish list:

  • My car trunk (as tons of little crap)

  • The dreams that keep me searching (searching for what I do not know)

  • The dreams that keep me running (running for what I do not know)

  • Some of those old shoes in my shoe container that I know I do not want anymore

  • Some of these yucky grey hairs

  • Clear out some of the humid hot weather and bring in some cool temperatures

  • Finally clear out all negative thoughts patterns and replace them with positive ones
That is my clear list.

What is yours?

Hark are those Coconut Heads?

If it is Friday it means no the week of work is not over not for me anyway. Tonight I agreed to assist our "Unique" bartender serve at the Lodge for a big party that will take place in our ballroom. We depend so much on rentals and this group booked 4 parties in advance so needless to say if they want more then one bartender they will get more then one bartender. I just do better on the other side of the bar but this is one of those roll up your sleeves time. I am fortunate that one of my Officers has generously volunteered to also come in and help. We decided we would toggle back and forth. Then oh yes tomorrow is Saturday one would think a day or weekend of rest right after all it is Easter weekend. Oh you silly fool no I am off to another Elks Lodge! This time in Marathon Florida! I usually spend the night there because while it is only a 2 hour drive coming back its on a long dark road and I do not particularly like driving at night. Besides on of the members over there found me a hotel for $69!! Yeah I was like wow cannot beat that price.

What I should do is take my camera and take some nice shots of the Keys one of the nice things about being down there is that you see such fabulous things. Like the picture you see above that was taken inside one of the Elks Lodges in the Florida Keys. Yes those are coconut heads your eyes are not playing tricks on you. The originality of people in the Keys is always fun and everyone is always nice and willing to help out in any way possible. So this is where I will be this weekend spending my time in the Keys.
Yeah it is the price I pay for living in Paradise I know.
Stay Tune..

Wishing

Yes it is Thursday but that will not stop me from participating in Jamie's Wishcasting at Starshyne Productions

So this week's question is a really good one.

What do you wish to transform?

Ok here it is for the whole world (at least the blog world and those that visit) to read:

I wish to transform myself to accept the wisdom, insight and protection of my angels. I also wish to transform all the evil in this world into dust and place them in a box that can be buried for no one to ever get their hands on. I wish to transform my curly sometimes frizzy hair into beautiful straight shiny hair. Finally I wish to transport myself to a cafe somewhere peaceful on a beach and have a great conversation with my Parents - especially my dad.

That is my wish for this week.

What are you going to wish for?

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Yeah Tuesday already

Another record day in Miami. While yesterday we reach 93 degrees today we wake up to mid 60's. Yes folks it is the price for living in paradise. So leave your cold weather behind and come on down for a weekend or more.
Tonight I go to yet another Elk Lodge. Tonight's event will be in North Miami and while that does not sound bad the drive up there tends to test my patience. But this is the season for traveling and visiting other Lodges. Saturday I get to go all the way to Marathon - located on the way to Key West. Yes I am tempted to go to Key West but no I am not.
I realized this morning I am really blessed and protected because here at work 4 people situated all around me are very sick with the flu. As a matter of fact 3 are out - 1 with a doctors note to be out the rest of the week and of course there is always one person who refuses to call in sick because they want to say their "time off days" so instead they make the decision to come in. Not a tickle in my throat or chest so thank you Lord for watching over me and please angels do not stop.
I hope you all have a healthy, happy and fabulous week!

My week of none stop on the go is about to begin. Tonight Elks, tomorrow Elks, Wednesday Elks, Thursday - free, Friday Elks, Saturday Elks, Sunday who knows maybe Elks. Yeah it will be a fun week.

TGIF

Oh yeah it is Friday at last! Amazingly enough there are no Lodge Visitations scheduled this weekend, no Lodge duties. I am free - but I best not say that too loud huh? Actually in thinking about some upcoming events I could use going in to the Lodge this weekend to do some work - otherwise I may end up taking a day off from work. Lets see how it goes.

Right now on the horizon is to take Nick (Child number one) shopping for work clothes for his new job. We decided Saturday would be a good day for that, that evening a friend wanted to "get away" and go to a movie but that again is up in the air. Then Sunday I think I am free?? Shhh again not too loud subject to change.

The upcoming week is going to be brutal I pretty much have plans every single night right up to Saturday! I think I have Thursday free....there I go again using that word...

Hopefully along the way I will get a chance to (1) update my Facebook (2) Watch some Dancing with the Stars (3) watch Heros and a whole sleuth of reality shows.

Stay tune...

Just make a Wish

Jamie at Starshyne Productions has prompted this weeks question of Wishcasting Wednesday.

This week's question is another interesting one..

What do you wish to trust in?

I wish to trust in:

  1. There are more Good Deeders then not so good deeders
  2. Love and Trust do go hand in hand
  3. My brother will stop being such a greedy hound you would think he would of learned this lesson already.
  4. Our angels are around us guiding, protecting and giving us insight.
  5. My year as Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge will be filled with more happiness then sorrow.
  6. I will not get any more grey hair then I already have but will keep covering them up.
I am sure there will be more as I think of it but right now this is all I can think of. Tonight my first Trustee Meeting as ER to be followed by Ritual Practice. Oh boy should be a fun night. I hope your week is great and your day is fabulous!
