Here I am back again

Ok so let me see if I can briefly recap what has occured since last I posted. We were waiting for the weekend. We went to see Cirque Jungle Fantasy show and boy what a great show that was! We had fabulous seats. We were on the 3rd Tier, front row balcony with an aisle. Oh yeah it was so good.
Several Elk functions later, plus some heavy duty assignments at the job I actually get paid for and here I am.

I just returned from Disney! Every Memorial Day weekend the Elks hold a big convention and the hotel was Disney's Coronado Springs resort. The rooms are clean, decent size but of course the place is huge and Disney could improve on the tram service. (they no longer like to use this unless they have no choice and I suppose 800 Elks is no reason to bring out the tram). Over all its is fine. One great moment is when I went to see Paula who lives up there. She was so gracious and invited us to her house for dinner. Since we never pass up a free meal, and we do enjoy our buddy we were there with bells on. Thanks Paula the food was fabulous!
The weekend is here again and this means I will most likely not post again until next week. I am sure the mad rush will end soon.

Wishing Day

Hi there! Here we go wish casting Wednesday started by Jamie at Starshyne Productions, today's hot topic question is:

Who do you wish to connect with?

Easy question for me I wish to connect with Mom and Dad. I think sometimes I connect with them I can feel certain presences around me on rare times. But I would love to connect and just have a good old conversation.

Have great day everyone! Who do you wish to connect with?

5 Questions

Here is something different and fun.

Jamie at Starshyne Productions recently participated in an interview session where she was asked 5 questions. She decided to carry this on to her blog and I was picked as one of the lucky people to interview. So Jaime asked me 5 questions and here they are.

First the rules:

THE INTERVIEW RULES*

*leave me a comment with your email address saying: “interview me”
* I will e-mail you five questions of my choice
* you can then answer the questions on your blog {with a link back to my blog}
* you should also post these rules, along with an offer to interview anyone else who emails you, wanting to be interviewed
* anyone who asks to be interviewed should be sent 5 questions to answer on their blog
* it would be nice if the questions were individualized for each blogger

My Questions from Jaime were:

1. When you were a girl, what was your favourite hobby?

I grew up in what is considered a very low income part of the city. My parents did not have the income to register me in sports and go to events. I was a very shy little girl. I played hop scotch a lot! In the elementary years I really had no hobbies. I know hard to believe but I really didn't I just sort of took one day at a time and watched a lot of TV. Then in middle school I recognized that I was a bit shy and took drama in an effort to break me out of my shyness. Did it work? Well yes and no. It worked in as much when I had to stand up in front of the class and talk I would pretend to be a particular character and make that speech my performance. In real life? Some of my friends laugh when I say I am shy but I really am! It is just once I know you and feel comfortable I let loose a bit but in new situations I am very shy. So that was my hobby.

2. What's something you've done that took bravery?

I guess right now. I am Exalted Ruler ( in other words President) of my Elks Lodge. This Lodge is taking a lot of undeserved heat from high ups right now and I am challenged by having to confront these people and situations. Generally I do not like being in charge of anything, I like helping out and being a behind the scenes person but I do not like being front center like hey look at me. I guess it goes back to my shyness. However in this case I am no longer hiding. Some say it is good and a good experience for me but shoot to step into a turmoil is not what I wanted. Makes me wonder if I am able to handle it regardless I will tackle it on and see the outcome. I do have high hopes and I will fight for the cause.

3. What inspired you to start blogging?

I guess I gave in to peer pressure. I have a couple people I know who blog and they were like yes you should. I wondered what would I write about? After all I am not Seinfeld and do a blog about nothing and it would interesting. Then one day I got up and had decided I wanted to put that book that has been in my head for years in motion. Ok in order to get closer to the book meant I needed to write more to get into the habit of writing. So I thought ok lets try a blog. This will encourage me to write daily or at least often. Then what did I discover as I am searching and reading but such great blogs and on topics I am highly interested in! WOW who knew? Ok a little late...but I am getting there I have not made my first year yet I believe it will be one year on July 27th. But I have gained so much in that short period of time. I have read such wonderful stories, emailed with really nice people. Jaime's questions are so challenging. I truly enjoy this.

4. What would be the best gift anyone could ever give you?

Tough question Jaime. I guess right now the best gift I could have is peace of mind and wisdom. I know wisdom comes with time and peace of mind is really my own gift I have to find but gosh this is a hard question. Honestly the best gift I could have from someone is no judgement or make assumptions based on a label. By label I mean do not make assumptions based on: They are Cuban, They do not earn a high income, they are Exalted Ruler. Just see first and then make up your mind.

5. Where would you like to be on your next birthday

Well my next birthday I will be returning from a convention so I will actually be on the road from gosh an Elk Meeting. ARGGG. But lets remove all that. Where would I like to be? Waking up in another country say oh United Kingdom. Yeah that would be cool. Some place different each year afterwards. How is that for dreaming?

Fabulous Darling

What a fabulous weekend! A while back I said I was going to learn and appreciate my surroundings after all I live in Paradise stop knocking it down because it is hot 90% of the time. Friday night we met up with a couple friends in South Miami and headed to eat at http://www.outback.com/. We had then decided we would try this Wine Tasting Eatery that had recently opened in that area. Well we went to Outback had a lovely dinner and conversation. Then we walked outside made a left and walked about 20 feet and into the Wine Place. This place is called Cavas Wine Tasting Room. To begin you purchase a Cavas debit card and deposit $20. So now you have $20 and this card is yours to keep and bring back. You refill it as often as you want. Cavas allows the customer to choose from over 80 bottles (88 in this place) of wine. The wines you select to taste are hooked up to a state of the art wine dispensing machine. Prices vary from low to high and you may tast by the ounce, half glass, or glass. They have tables and chairs inside to sit or you may sit outside in one of the comfortable couches. There is a menu for ordering items that you want to pair with your wine such as cheese or flatbreads. http://mycavas.com/ I have to tell you we so loved every single minute of it. We sat and talked and laughed and giggled. That was just a great way to end a long week of work.

Saturday we drove down to the Florida Keys Elks Lodge for a Sunset Picnic they were having. It was really nice. BBQ chicken and the fixins all outside by the water with a fabulous clear view of the sun as it set down. We ran to the shore side and watched that sun slowly go down. It really is a great sight to stand there and see that sun slowly go down and then poof it just disappears. There was music by a local DJ, and some silent auction items on the block. This was a fund raiser for the Lodge and we do enjoy when we can supporting each other.
Sunday was Mother's Day and I got a fabulous home made breakfast. Yum yum yum. Then I laid on the couch trying to catch up on The Mentalist and Paranormal State when the sunshining outside started calling my name. Well ok it was not the sun but rather the crispy newly cleaned pool and a fiesty husband just insisting I go in. So I did! I did managed to get out - 3 hours later. Oh the water was nice on a really long hot day. The evening ended with a fabulous trip to Coconut Grove and one of my faveorite restaurants there called Green Street. I so do love that place and its located in the heart of the Grove right on that corner. Yeah we sat there and saw all the pretty people walk by.
So overall I must say the weekend was pretty darn good....What does that mean for this week?

Bright Moments

Welcome to Thursday! The week has been challenging to say the least. It has been a volunteer Elk duty day pretty much every day with the exception of Tuesday that night belonged to the Women of the Moose. Who does tonight belong to? It belongs ME! Yes me me me! No Moose No Elk just home sweet home with the gang.

As an added bonus it's season finale of Grey's Anatomy...Yeah I have my priorities straight. Hopefully Grey and McDreamy will finally get married and they will write in how George is leaving the show. I am sorry but that character has no value and when I heard he will not be returning to the show well all I can say is BUH BYE.

The weekend is close by and it looks pretty good. The weather is like stuck and when I say stuck I mean it is stuck at hot and steamy. You know those hot steamy days and nights. Makes me glad I work indoors. But the sky is usually a really pretty blue and bright. I usually take lunch by a window facing a lake and lately I have been seeing birds just hanging out in the shade. So you know if the birds are happy then things are not so bad right?

Here is hoping you have a wonderful bright Moment!

Lets start the week!

Here we go another week is here! This weekend was a rather fun one. Saturday I went to the Lodge (yes again) for our Derby Day and usual suspect ( as seen here) were present. We had so much fun. We did a little side betting. It was mainly random so it was not like you actually picked a horse and yours truly won the huge pot of $47. Hey I was happy I left with more money then I came in with!
One of our friends got especially happy he had actually been to the track with his mom earlier that day and they decided to place $10 bets on the long shots. Well if you didn't watch the Derby let me tell you the horse that won was a 50-1 shot! Tim won $1000 and you heard him scream at the top of his lungs! He was just rightfully thrilled and it was a really good energy. He bought the house a round drinks (thank you very much) and we all laughed so much about pretty much nothing. It was just a great feeling to have friends around laughing and having a good time. Oh if you can't tell Tim is the one holding the winning ticket. That lady with the awesome hat is Tim's mom. Both of them went to the track and yeah both were winners. We all felt his mom had the best hat ever.

Sunday was the day of rest. All was good remembering the day before. I am sure this week will simply fabulous!
